E is for Effort

There are three different kinds of students in college-
  • Those that just want to get a good grade and get out of here
  • Those that want to learn, even if it means working hard for it
  • Those who are happy just barely passing.

You can usually tell them apart in class rather easily.  The first subset tries to pick the easy teachers, takes the minimum courses, and does what is needed, but doesn't go above and beyond.
The third set boggles my mind, as they sit there on their cell phone text messaging through class. not seeming to care, and then hands in lousy wok week after week. I saw one of those students walk into the photography studio for an assignment, grab 2 random items from the prop closet, pull her iPod out of her pocket, and take pictures in about 30 minutes.
Myself, being a part of the middle group, planned all week what I was going to take pictures of, and came in, taking my time to set up carefully, make sure my lighting was set properly, and I took about an hour and a half overall to get the pictures I wanted, and I wasn't even thrilled with those, but it was getting too late to be there.

I guess I'm just trying to make a point, seeing as it's 2:30 in the morning, but I want to make sure I get all my work done, so I'm pushing myself to do this assignment. Not to mention, I've still got a bit more work to do in designing a website. The best part is, I'm not going to be present tomorrow when this is due, but I don't want to be one of the other groups of students who pulls the "I wasn't there so I didn't hand it in" card. I want group feedback on my work, so I'm making sure it gets handed in.

Ok, so I sound like a spiteful nerd. I hope it's just the tiredness making me ramble.

Oh, and here's an image:
